Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is a program that helps Windows users determine whether they are able to upgrade to Windows 7.

Do you have a computer that's currently running Windows Vista or older? Are you dealing with the problems with the older operating systems and wonder if you can safely upgrade to Windows 7? If you do, you have two choices. The first is the old-fashioned way of doing things - reading the technical specifications off of Microsoft's website and figuring out if your computer meets the requirements. The other, easier, way is to download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and let it do the work.

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is a very simple program that scans your computer and figures out if it meets the specifications necessary to run Windows 7. It doesn't make any changes to your computer and it certainly isn't an upgrade package itself, but it can let you know where your computer stands. Given that there have been two versions of Windows released since Windows 7, this definitely isn't a necessary tool for computer released in the recent past. It is, however, a good tool to use if you have an older computer sitting around the house and wonder if it can be upgraded to a more modern operating system.

At this point, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is more or less obsolete. If you have bought a computer in the last five to seven years, you probably already have a newer OS. If you have an older system that still runs Vista, though, you might want to take a look at this program. It is a little slower than just looking up the specs yourself, but it will help you avoid making a mistake.
